Transmission and Distribution: AREVA T&D India successfully commissions 66 kV Sub-station for Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport

AREVA T&D India has successfully commissioned the Main Receiving Sub-station (MRSS) for the Power supply to the new Terminal T3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in the National Capital, New Delhi.

AREVA T&D India has designed and supplied the MRSS that comprises of 66 KV four bay Substation, 220 numbers of 11 KV panels and more than 300 Kms of  11 KV HT cable to distribute power at various consumer points spread across the terminal. The project scope also included design, supply and commissioning of emergency back-up Power of 42 MVA Diesel Generators, including civil works, bulk fuel storage/handling, building acoustics, HVAC, firefighting, illumination etc.

This was a complex project that could only be made possible with the successful integration of the Grid Power supply with the emergency Power back-up of 42 MVA for the entire Terminal. The project has been successfully commissioned within a challenging schedule of 12 months, to meet the deadline for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.

AREVA T&D India had been awarded this contract by L&T Limited*, on behalf of Delhi International Airport Pvt. Limited (DIAL). Valued at approximately 2500 MINR, this is one of the biggest contracts to be awarded in the Indian Power Distribution Industry recently.
